Only in Sri Lanka.... :)

I'm constantly on the lookout for funny stuff that I can photograph and laugh at forever. Quite recently I ran in to some really funny stuff on the roadside but the downside of being forgetful as I am is that I don't always have my camera with me to preserve the moment.

1. Tuk Tuks
Believe me, our tuk-tuks are a constant source of amusement to me. The over-sized sound systems, the overly flashy  paint jobs are all second to the tuk-tuks equivalent of bumper stickers; "the quotes on the rear".

I'm sure it is what it says it is
I saw another one which said, "Gold Mother". It goes for saying, somethings should only be said in Sinhala.

2. Food Packaging
This is a bit rare but when you find it, it totally hits the spot. This was taken at a friend's place.
Don't Judge the papadam by the packaging
The taste was pretty much average and there wasn't a lot of product in the package. I guess my friend bought this "for teh lulz"

3. My cats

It would be unfair to miss out on the funny stuff dished by my babies under my own roof. Being the cat person I am I have two adorable cats:

one is forever ready to strike a pose...
Ready for those flashing lights...
the other likes boxes, baskets, pans, cupboards... well, pretty much anything large enough for him to curl up inside.

Hey, if the little old woman lived in a shoe then...
You gotta enjoy the little things that life dishes out through the course of a rough week. These are the silver lines on my rainclouds and the rainbows after the rain.

Well, that's enough LOLz for today I guess.
Stay signed in for more... and until then PEACE and Enjoy the little things!

Dear Jenny Humphrey...

I don't know a lot of people who make their own clothes. A lot of my mothers friends and my mother herself, complain that they don't have the time to do it while a lot of my friends complain that they don't know how. I usually make a lot of own clothes. I don't really know where I learned to do it, I remember picking up a pair of jeans that was way too big for me and taking in the seams carefully to make it smaller ( I swear Sri Lankan retail shops stock clothes exclusively for giants). I guess I am living proof for the saying " Necessity is the mother of all invention".
Today I stand at a proud size zero (at 5'-1" that's not anorexic), but I used to be much smaller until quite recently and stores stocked jeans that fit me in the children's section and which 16 year old wears jeans with lame cartoon figures embroidered to the back pockets???

I've come far since then, from altered jeans to blouses that no one can find anywhere. That's where Jenny Humphrey ( the Blair wannabe turned tyrant queen little sister from Gossip Girl) comes in. She made clothes for herself cause she wanted to blend in with the designer clad Upper East siders at her school. I do it regularly to stand out as an individual among the multitudes and I can't really afford the gorgeous designer stuff they flaunt at you on GG. I just love it when someone comes up to me and goes like " OhMiGod, your blouse is awesome where did you get it?, I soo want one!!" and then I get to go like " Actually you can't buy it from anywhere 'cause I made it (smug smile)". That's mean I know but, hey, it beats running into a forty  year old aunty wearing the same blouse you're wearing in a different colour. That reminds me, I have a hemline that isn't going to magically sew itself :-) .
I would like to end this post with a HUGE "XO XO" to little J Humphrey and Gossip Girl (for the ideas of course :-* ) and all of you who dare to stand out!!!

The Whole Blogging thing.....

Well, here I am... :) Allow me to explain my self...! I've been thinking about starting a blog since forever. This year, I made it a new year resolution and finally got down to it.  I take this leap of faith to put aside the everyday opera mask and express myself.
A toast, to self expression and new year resolutions...
