Why Mopeds are fun

Public transport has its annoyances and inconveniences. Everyone who knows what I’m talking about would applaud when I say that I would much rather walk. But what about these mopeds? I saw a guy riding down on one of these and I am filled with envy. The bike was incredibly cute and it seemed to be in control of the traffic while I stared (with my lime green face) out of the bus window.

How awesome is that?

So, Let's see if I should get myself a Moped.

1. They are so cute!

2. I'm kind of small, so a moped would be the least intimidating bike for me.

3. OMG they are so cute!

4. No insane bike skills needed. I can keep a bicycle straight. With some practice, I'll probably be able to pull off the one of these as well.

Totally!
5. In most countries, you are not necessarily expected to have a license to drive a moped since most models drive under  50kmph. (too slow? well, I'll be preventing situations like the one pictured below by two lolcats)

Totally Not!
6. They are inexpensive and easy to maintain. Awesome.

7. Did I say how cute mopeds are? oh, I did. Well, they are cute!

8. Fuel efficiency. Great for people who are concerned about leaving massive carbon footprints.

9. I can finally understand what Blair Waldorf meant when she said ' Riding around in vespas while wearing the cute outfits'. (Gossip Girl Season 3 Finale)

10. They'll last ages if you can maintain them properly and use good spare parts when needed.

That's it. This is reason enough for me to get my hands on a moped. Good bye public transportation, brawling babies, huge bags and creepy seat mates! Hello Moped!

A useful source to help keep you moped in good health.

Parodies...

Either you love 'em or you hate 'em.  It all depends on whether you are a good sport (That means we can count out all those Twilight fans). To me, It doesn't matter whether I like the original or not. I always love the parody version. Just recently I watched a bunch of these finger puppet parodies of Gossip Girl and had a good laugh. I love Gossip Girl but these parodies totally brought out the TVshow-ness in them.

Southpark has got to be the most experienced parody maker of all time.. So far they've parodied Inception, Jersey Shore, Twilight (Sorry fans), High School Musical, World of Warcraft, Pokemon and even Wallmart and Scientology. I would love to see if they come up with a parody for Black Swan or American Idol, that would be so cool.

Shopping hauls on youtube are actually pretty awesome because you can find out about new products and fashion trends. But that doesn't mean I don't love the parodies. Check this out,

Note : If you don't know what shopping hauls are, I advice you to check one out before you watch the parody version.

So, I guess that's all for Blogging hour today,
I'll see u upper-eastsiders in a lil' while,
XOXO
Parody of Gossip Girl

P.S. - Maybe I should do an entire post on the apparent deterioration of the Gossip Girl storyline (the fashion's still awesome)... just a thought

Dear Jenny Humphrey...

I don't know a lot of people who make their own clothes. A lot of my mothers friends and my mother herself, complain that they don't have the time to do it while a lot of my friends complain that they don't know how. I usually make a lot of own clothes. I don't really know where I learned to do it, I remember picking up a pair of jeans that was way too big for me and taking in the seams carefully to make it smaller ( I swear Sri Lankan retail shops stock clothes exclusively for giants). I guess I am living proof for the saying " Necessity is the mother of all invention".
Today I stand at a proud size zero (at 5'-1" that's not anorexic), but I used to be much smaller until quite recently and stores stocked jeans that fit me in the children's section and which 16 year old wears jeans with lame cartoon figures embroidered to the back pockets???

I've come far since then, from altered jeans to blouses that no one can find anywhere. That's where Jenny Humphrey ( the Blair wannabe turned tyrant queen little sister from Gossip Girl) comes in. She made clothes for herself cause she wanted to blend in with the designer clad Upper East siders at her school. I do it regularly to stand out as an individual among the multitudes and I can't really afford the gorgeous designer stuff they flaunt at you on GG. I just love it when someone comes up to me and goes like " OhMiGod, your blouse is awesome where did you get it?, I soo want one!!" and then I get to go like " Actually you can't buy it from anywhere 'cause I made it (smug smile)". That's mean I know but, hey, it beats running into a forty  year old aunty wearing the same blouse you're wearing in a different colour. That reminds me, I have a hemline that isn't going to magically sew itself :-) .
I would like to end this post with a HUGE "XO XO" to little J Humphrey and Gossip Girl (for the ideas of course :-* ) and all of you who dare to stand out!!!
